Elon Musk’s X to Hire 100 Content Moderators: X, formerly referred to as Twitter and owned by Elon Musk, has recently disclosed its intentions to build a “Trust and Safety Center of Excellence” at its recently inaugurated site in Austin, Texas. The company has taken this action to combat child abuse-related content on the platform. To strengthen its content moderation efforts, the organization intends to hire one hundred content moderators by the end of the year.
Preparing for a momentous US Senate hearing slated for January 31 that will center on the subject of online child sexual exploitation, X is strategically expanding its content moderation staff.
In addition to X’s CEO, Linda Yaccarino, the CEOs of notable social media platforms Meta Platforms, Snap, TikTok, and Discord are scheduled to deliver testimony during the hearing.
The Head of Business Operations at X, Joe Benarroch, furnished a status report regarding the continuous endeavors to establish the team in the Austin office. He emphasized the significance of identifying qualified candidates to achieve the position-filling target by the end of the year.

Ever since acquiring the company in 2022, Elon Musk has been subject to scrutiny due to contentious statements and endeavors to alter the platform’s policies on content moderation. In response to concerns, X revealed in a blog post that 12.4 million accounts were terminated last year for violating underage sexual exploitation policies. This was up from 2022’s 2.3 million account suspensions.
It is anticipated that the forthcoming facility in Austin will not only be instrumental in addressing child abuse content but also in addressing a wide range of harmful content that exists on the platform.
The spouse of Francisco Cabada filed a negligence lawsuit against SpaceX, the Elon Musk-owned space company, in a separate development. The lawsuit relates to an incident that took place on January 18, 2022, during which Cabada sustained injuries in the form of a fractured skull as a result of a failing rocket engine.
A Reuters investigation the previous year at SpaceX uncovered over 600 occupational injuries. Among them were fatalities, electrocutions, crushed limbs, and amputations of the head and eyes.
