$1300 Stimulus Payment Minnesota: The Minnesota Department of Revenue has implemented measures to reissue 128,000 one-time tax rebate checks that were left uncashed last year and subsequently expired. The most recent addresses on file have been sent these checks, which will now be valid for two years.
Under a law that was enacted in May 2023, a total of nearly 2.1 million direct tax rebate payments were issued, totaling nearly $1 billion. The eligibility and rebate amounts were determined using the 2021 income tax or property tax refund returns.
In August and September, payments were initially disbursed via direct deposit or paper check. In November and December, uncashed checks were reissued, and additional reissues were made in February and March for checks that remained unclaimed.
The IRS has determined that these rebate payments are subject to taxation on federal returns. Form 1099-MISC will be provided to all beneficiaries to complete their 2023 U.S. individual income tax returns.
Eligible taxpayers were granted up to $1,300 in rebates under the one-time rebate law. This comprised $520 for married couples filing jointly with an adjusted gross income of $150,000 or less, $260 for all other individuals with an adjusted gross income of $75,000 or less, and an additional $260 for each dependent claimed, up to a maximum of three dependents, for a total of $780.
