Property Tax Stimulus Payment: Find Out When You’ll Receive Your $1000

Governor Shapiro extends deadline for applying for property tax stimulus payments in 2023, extending the deadline for older citizens and those with disabilities to December 31, 2024.

Property Tax Stimulus Payment: Today, Governor Josh Shapiro announced an extension for the deadline to apply for rebates on rent and property taxes paid in 2023, in an effort to guarantee that all eligible Pennsylvanians receive the financial assistance they are entitled to. In place of the previous deadline of June 30, 2024, the new deadline for older citizens and Pennsylvanians with disabilities to submit their applications is December 31, 2024.

“After hearing from seniors across the Commonwealth that we needed to do more to cut costs and put money back in their pockets, my Administration put in the hard work to expand the Property Tax/Rent Rebate program for the first time in nearly 20 years,” said Gov. Josh Shapiro.

The Property Tax/Rent Rebate program has long saved seniors and disabled people, especially those on fixed incomes. This is what happens when we work together, put aside politics, and serve Pennsylvania.

“With higher income limits for renters and homeowners in place this year, we’re seeing thousands more Pennsylvanians access this critical program – and now, eligible Pennsylvanians have until the end of the year to apply and take advantage of the Property Tax/Rent rebate.”

The PTRR program benefits Pennsylvanians 65 and older, widows and widowers 50 and older, and disabled 18-year-olds.

Income determines rebate amount, with lower-income applicants receiving more.

Annual income and property taxes or rent paid in the previous year determine eligibility, thus applicants must submit a fresh rebate application each year.

IRS Tax Deadline 2024: Several States Extend Filing Deadline to November

What is the anticipated date for the property tax payment?

The distribution of rebates that have been approved for payment will commence on July 1, as mandated by law. Nevertheless, the processing of applications may be delayed if applicants are required to provide additional supporting documentation or affirm their eligibility when contacted.

This is especially true for first-time registrants, as the program’s expansion has resulted in a significant number of new applicants.
