He was born in the Shivneri fort on February 19, 1630. In honor of the deity Shiva, who granted his mother’s wish for a son, she gave him his name.

When Shivaji was just seventeen years old, he managed to establish the Maratha dominion by successfully conquering the forts of Torna, Raigad, and Kondana. The ceremony to crown him emperor of Maratha took place in Raigad in 1674, at the age of 44. There were 50,000 attendees in total.
