Marcos’ successor, Corazon Aquino, invited him to join the Coalition for the Restoration of Democracy (CORD) in 1986 in order to assist in the drafting of the Philippine constitution. On May 21, 1991, Lino Brocka perished in a vehicular collision while an route to Tandang Sora, Quezon City. His age at the time was 52 years.
